Bryn Elian Celebrate Exceptional 2017 A Level Results

Once again, we are delighted by the outstanding results achieved by our dedicated and hard working pupils with 2017 giving us one of our best Post 16 performance results. All students gained qualifications with a very high percentage of pupils gaining A*/A or equivalent in at least one subject area and approaching a third gaining at least 2 A* or A grades.. This stunning figure is matched by the number of pupils who gained 2 or more A levels at grades A*-C, through our academically rigorous curriculum. Yet again, all pupils, without exception, left with qualifications

Exceptional results were also achieved in the demanding and academically challenging new Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate.

The school is proud of the fact that pupils were placed on the correct learning pathway enabling them to achieve these extremely strong results.

Performances at the highest level of excellence were gained by the following, to name but a few at A level and/or their equivalencies:





Joel Patton gained a Distinction* for Creative media Production, an A* in English, an A in Maths and also an A in Biology and the Advanced Skills Certificate
Liam Herbert gained and A* in Maths, Further Maths and Biology with an A in History
Daniel Harding gained an A* in Maths, an A in Physics and a B in Further Maths and Chemistry.
James McGhee gained an A* in Maths and in Biology and A’s in Physics and Chemistry.
Christie Harrison Jones gained a Distinction* and Distinction in Public Services and a Double Distinction in Sport along with a Grade C in her Skills Challenge Certificate.
Amy O’Hare gained a Grade A in Maths and English and a B in her Chemistry
Natasha Perdiki gained an A* in English and an A in Biology with a C in Chemistry.





The school is delighted that the vast majority of students have been able to take up a place at one of their universities of choice.

The Headteacher, Mrs Eithne Hughes said: “Congratulations to all our students for their successes in these important examinations. Bryn Elian students have once again demonstrated that the school successfully provides both academic rigour alongside broader achievements, through an innovative curriculum which embraces academic, vocational and extra-curricular opportunities. This innovative curriculum, and its successful outcomes for our students was a feature of our recent Estyn Inspection report. Thanks go to all staff for their hard work and excellent teaching of the students. I, along with my deputies and all the staff, wish all the students the very best of luck for their continued studies.”

Mrs Mair Herbert who has been Acting Head Teacher for the year was also delighted with the strong performance of the students adding, “The work ethic of Year 13 has been second to none and their dedication to their studies, and that of their wonderful teachers, is demonstrated in these outstanding results”

Mr Phil Capper, Chair of the school Board of Governors added his thanks to all staff for their hard work and hearty congratulations to all pupils on their phenomenal success on behalf of the Governing body.
