Ysgol Bryn Elian Celebrate Excellent GCSE Results

Ysgol Bryn Elian is once again celebrating a superb set of GCSE results, adding to the great success of last week’s ‘A’ level results. This year’s results are the first of the revised GCSE curriculum in Wales, with most qualifications having been taken for the very first time.

The school is delighted with the performance of pupils in these rigorous and challenging Wales-only qualifications, and are delighted that effective mentoring, alongside the hard work of pupils, staff and parents has resulted in such excellent outcomes for pupils. The school’s Governors are delighted with the outstanding results achieved, extending their congratulations to pupils.





It is always difficult to single out students for their achievements, but the following pupils have performed exceptionally well:

Holly Foster - 9 A* grades, 2 A grades and Distinction in Additional Mathematics
Daniel Lewis Jones- 7 A* grades, 4 A grades, 2 B grades and a Distinction in Additional Mathematics
Josephine Hastings - 4 A* grades, 3 A grades, 4 B grades and a Distinction in Additional Mathematics
Jacob Baker, Harriet Bowers, Morgan Causer, Aaron Harding, Shelby Chapman and Niamh Williams also achieved outstanding results.





Particular mention should also be made to Liam McGuiness who will be joining Ysgol Bryn Elian in Year 7 in September, from Ysgol San Sior in Llandudno, who has already been taught Higher Tier maths at Bryn Elian, following his achievement of a Foundation C grade last Summer, and we are delighted that he gained a B grade this year. The Maths department are looking forward to continuing to support his excellence in Mathematics!





Headteacher, Mrs E Hughes, said, “Yet again the school has achieved superb results, and are very proud of all the young people who have worked with such dedication. We are very much looking forward to seeing a majority of them back in our successful sixth form in September. Bryn Elian’s success comes from offering our students a varied, appropriate and well-supported curriculum, enhanced by our pastoral systems in school and also our intensive mentoring package. Thanks go to all the staff for all their hard work and excellent teaching of these Year 11 students.”
