Ysgol Bryn Elian is once again celebrating a remarkable set of GCSE results, adding to the great success of last week’s ‘A’ level results. Year on year increase has resulted in 2016 being the best set of results ever with a minimum of 90% of students gaining at least 3 A*/A or equivalent – An amazing statistic.
In excess of 95 %of the school’s Year 11 students achieved at least the equivalent of 5 A*-C grades and 100% of students leaving with at last the equivalent of 5 GCSE’s. The staff, pupils and Governors are delighted with the outstanding results achieved.
With so many students gaining such a high volume of higher grades equivalent to 5A*-C, it is difficult to single out individual students. However congratulations for exceptional performances go to:
Richard Scott who gained 15 A*/A grades
Finlay Owen who gained 14 A*/A grades
Siobhan Newell who gained 9 A*/A grades
Rhiannon Lloyd Parry who gained 14 A*/A grades
Natasha Craven who gained 18 A*/A grades
George Davies who gained 6 A*/A grades
Lucy Bowers who gained 13 A*/A grades
Particular mention needs to be given to Liam McGuiness, aged 9, from Ysgol San Sior in Llandudno who came to Ysgol Bryn Elian to be taught Foundation Tier maths by the department. We are delighted that he gained a very high C grade, allowing him to continue to Higher tier next year. The Maths department are looking forward to continue advancing his studies in Mathematics.
The Headteacher, Mrs E Hughes, said, “Yet again the school has achieved its highest results in the school’s history and broken multiple performance records. We are very proud of all the young people who have worked so hard and tirelessly. We are very much looking forward to seeing them back in our successful sixth form in September.Bryn Elian’s success comes from offering our students a varied and appropriate curriculum, enhanced by our support systems in school and also our intensive mentoring package. Thanks go to all the staff for all their hard work and excellent teaching of these Year 11 students.”
Mr Capper, Chair of Governors joined Mrs Hughes in congratulating all pupils and staff on behalf of the Governing Body.
